TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT

I stage: Identification of the parameters of the new product on a professional measuring bench, prior to installation on the vehicle. Measurement of basic parameters, i.e. thickness, initial runout, surface parallelism, and other.

1. ASSESSMENT OF BRAKE KITS:

Checklist of preliminary tests carried out:

  • Visual inspection of brake discs and brake pads
  • Measurement of brake disc thickness using a micrometre
  • Measurement of surface parallelism of brake discs using a professional the measurement device
  • Measurement of axial runout of brake discs using a professional dial gauge
  • Condition of brake discs and pads before fitting on a vehicle

I.I. Visual inspection of brake discs and brake pads

a) Kit 1: Z 1 C3W039ABE-P

In the first stage of the study, the visual condition of the brake discs and pads was inspected and basic parameters were measured.

The Z3 kit has not been assembled on a Renault Clio test car yet. Once it has been installed, performance tests will begin and the contents of the opinion will be supplemented in this regard.

2. INITIAL CONCLUSIONS

The tested brake disc and pad kits were pre-qualified and parameter were initially evaluated. It should be concluded that the results obtained are in line with the manufacturer’s requirements and that the measured parameters of surface parallelism and runout before and after fitting to the test vehicles are within the acceptable ranges.

It should be concluded that the brake assemblies: C3W039ABE-P, C3S012ABE-P, 3CR049ABE meet the manufacturers’ initial quality and assembly criteria, corresponding to the original components.

The next stage of testing.

The brake disc and pad sets were fitted to the test cars: VW Tiguan and Seat Leon.

The in-service tests have started, consisting of the evaluation of performance parameters, i.e. braking efficiency, comfort of use and the degree and manner of wear.

Cyclically, or at intervals of 5,000 km, the brake disc and pad sets will be individually evaluated with regard to:

  • driver perception: comfort, braking performance
  • degree and quality of wear
  • brake disc thickness
  • brake disc run-out

The individual test phases will be documented in a similar format.
